More kitchens than bedrooms

“All happiness depends on a leisurely breakfast”
- John Gunther

Choose your soundtrack. It may be your latest playlist, it may be your partners guitar, it may be, (sigh), silence, beautiful silence. No distraction, no whining, no questions. Just you and a chef’s knife, chopping board and time. Time to unwind into exactly how you like to cook.

Much consideration has been put into the most enjoyable, flexible and sustainable ways to prepare and cook food. You know this is true when there are more kitchens than bedrooms! We invite you to spend time cooking outdoors, truely soaking up the natural environment.

Sawmill Treehouses pantry: Wherever possible the pantry is stocked with organic and bulk Wholefoods for minimal waste.

Eating out is more appealing?

There is also the chance that Heaven for you is someone else cooking for you! If this is the case there are a multitude of fantastic eateries within close driving distance, from cafes, to pubs to wineries and restaurants.

Mirimbah Store (5min) (seasonal trade/ stocked with wine, spirits, picnic nibbles and food cooked on premises)

The Hunt Club Hotel, Merrijig (10min) Pub and meals, serving Merrijig since 1873.

The Merrijig Motor Inn (10 min). Also has a small groceries section.

Pinnacle Valley Resort, The Sebel (6min)

Delatite Winery: Excellent. Seasonal menu/cellar door, amazing views. Also offer picnic packages.

Swiftcrest Distillery: Offer pods to picnic in.

Mizzi’s Bar and Cafe (5min) open Fri/Sat/Sun (call to check hours)

Mansfield and Mt Buller are jam packed with delicious eateries to check out. Some of my favourites are The Fields, Harvest Wholefoods (they do a lovely soup of the day x), Mansfield Produce Store, The Mansfield Coffee Merchant and The Kitchen Door for delicious home cooked meals.

The Barn outdoor kitchen

The Barn: Built to be accessed outdoors The Barn outdoor kitchen offers BBQ, sink, fridge/freezer section and ample bench space.
There is an outdoor table and chairs that can be set up on the steel landing, or the grass, beautiful to cook if you like your nature sounds turned up a few dials.

Indoors, take your choice of Smeg combo oven/microwave, Bora induction cooktop or Artussi BBQ. (There is also a toaster and sandwich press available to use). Please note there is only a small fridge in Sawmill Treehouse, without a freezer section. However there is a freezer section available in the outdoor kitchen adjoined to The Barn (on the same block as the Treehouse and included in your stay).

It’s a special place.
