The Treehouse

Ultra-minimalist retreat

Immerse yourself in the tranquility of this thoughtfully designed Japandi-style home, nestled in the serene, leafy alpine setting of Sawmill Settlement at the base of Mt Buller, Victoria. This ultra-minimalist retreat designed by Robbie J Walker is crafted to be a haven of healing, rest, and rejuvenation, where every detail is designed to foster a deeper connection with nature.

Elevated to give you the sensation of living in the treetops, this home mimics a nest, providing a safe, soft, and enveloping atmosphere.

Built with fire-safe COR-TEN steel and lined with Tasmanian Oak timber, the home blends seamlessly with its environment. The steel posts align with gum tree trunks and the house position considered so that no trees were cut down in the build. Drawing inspiration from traditional mountain log cabins, the design has been reimagined with modern, sustainable materials.

The bedroom is a cosy sanctuary

Inside, the serene minimalist design continues. The open plan living area features full-span glazing, offering uninterrupted views of the lush forest and inviting natural light to flood the space. From this cosy cocoon, you can watch the ever-changing weather, bask in the sunshine, and enjoy the play of light.

The kitchen combines sleek modernity with practicality, featuring bespoke cabinetry and high-end appliances for a seamless cooking experience. The bedroom is a cosy sanctuary, equipped with a Queen Koala bed designed for restful sleep. The bathroom includes a shower, toilet, and vanity, crafted with natural materials to maintain the home's tranquil aesthetic.

We had the most beautiful morning. We didn’t leave the Treehouse. I had 5 cups of tea and my partner and I just loved the chats and chill time.
